Located on a white sand beach at Valcour Educational and Conference Center, The Valcour Kayak Center (VKC) is SUNY Plattsburgh's base of operations for its kayak program, which includes classes and events.
VKC operates under the auspices of Expeditionary Studies, SUNY Plattsburgh’s center for adventure education. Intended for the use of SUNY Plattsburgh faculty, staff, and students, kayaking opportunities. For more information on Expeditionary Studies visit www.plattsburgh.edu/adx
VKC offers guided trips, and paddling instruction, in addition to credit-bearing classes for students at Plattsburgh State. A limited number of memberships for students, faculty, and staff are available at VKC, granting boat storage and property access privileges.
The summer highlight for VKC is the annual Lake Champlain Sea Kayak Institute. The "Institute" offers two courses; Level I for paddlers with little or no experience and Level II for experienced paddlers.
